Remembering Dr. Sally Maddox
It is with heavy hearts that we must share the very sad news that Dr. Sally Maddox, a teacher at the FCS Transitional Academy, passed from this life on Saturday.
Dr. Maddox was a 1987 graduate of Coosa High School. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Berry College and her Master’s and Specialist Degrees from the University of West Georgia. In 2018, Dr. Maddox received her Ed.D. from Kennesaw State University. Dr. Maddox was a Board Member with the Pulmonary Hypertension Association and was active in their work. She was an organizer for the P.H.A. Fun Walk for a Cure and was a co-founder of the Georgia P.H.A. Support Group. Dr. Maddox was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Sally has been a teacher in Floyd County Schools since 2000. She spent her career teaching Math at the Transitional Academy. She was very passionate about her students and always wanted the best for each of them. She spent most of her time away from school supporting students by attending events and other activites they were involved in. She lived everyday to the fullest.
Sally is survived by her husband Shelby, her stepson Brandon, and chi-weenie companion Slash.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Tuesday from 5 until 8pm. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at 6:30pm at Calvary Baptist Church with her Pastor, Dr. Gary Graves and Mr. Zack Stegall officiating. Following the service, Dr. Maddox will be cremated in accordance with her wishes.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be sent to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association, 801 Roeder Road, Suite 1000, Silver Spring, Md. 20910 or make a memorial gift online at https://phassociation.org/sallymaddox/.
Please keep her family and the entire FCS family in your thoughts and prayers as we deal with the loss of Sally.
