Floyd County High Schools Place First and Second at Region Literary Meets, 14 Move on to State Competition
FCS high school students strongly represented their schools and district at the GHSA’s 7-A Division I and 7-AA Region Meets for Literary Teams. In their respective regions, CHS and MHS teams placed first, AHS and PHS teams placed first runner-up, and 14 students earned first place!

FCS Announces District Winners in Young Georgia Authors Writing Competition.
The Young Georgia Authors (YGA) writing competition encourages students to develop enthusiasm for and expertise in their writing, to provide a context to celebrate their writing successes, and to recognize student achievement in arts and academics.

Floyd County Schools’ Academic Quiz Bowl Competition
The quiz bowl competitions promote student academic growth in problem-solving, critical thinking, communication skills, and advanced research skills. The activities also promote leadership and provide motivation for students to excel in academics. The quiz bowls are local school system events with no region or state competitions.

AHS and MHS Earn State AP Honors
Two Floyd County high schools were among a select group of 273 high schools across the state honored by State School Superintendent Richard Woods as he announced the 2023 Advanced Placement (AP) Honor Schools. Armuchee High was honored as an AP Challenge School. Model High was honored as an AP Challenge School and AP STEM School.
