The fee for the class is $175.00. Students
must be at least 15 years old and hold a valid learner’s
permit to be eligible to enroll in the class.
The Driver Education Program is a TWO
WEEK CLASS. The first-week consists
of classroom instruction (thirty hours),
eight hours of homework; the second week consists of
four hours of range driving, two hours of road driving,
and sixteen hours of observation, for a total of sixty
hours. RANGE DRIVING WILL BE HELD IN THE
PARKING AREA ACROSS FROM THE FLOYD COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION,
600 RIVERSIDE PARKWAY (ACROSS FROM FUDDRUCKERS RESTAURANT.) During
their classroom instruction, students will be assigned
their range/road driving times. These times
are scheduled over a 5-day period, consisting of 4 one-hour
slots for range and 1 2-hour slot on the road. If
you are unable to attend the
week that is designated for your school/area, please check
with your school representative or Sarah Vann at (706) 234-1031
ext. 7123.
Please note:
Students who miss their scheduled time slot
for their range or road driving will be charged an additional
$25.00 per hour missed.
Registration for Spring and Summer Classes:
Floyd County students will register
through their school. Rome
High and Darlington students will register through their
school. All
other outside counties will register through the County Office,
600 Riverside Parkway, Sarah Vann at (706) 234-1031 ext.7123.
Upon successful completion of the
requirements, each student who has completed the eighth
grade may receive one-half Carnegie unit of credit if it
is their choice to receive a numerical grade between 70-100
for this course. Otherwise, the
student may choose to receive a pass/fail grade that will
not affect their GPA.

class. Notebooks will be provided.
Cancellations after registering
will be charged a $25.00 fee.
ALL refunds will be mailed
once all of the Driver Ed classes have been held.
Students missing their range
or road driving ‘hour slot’ will be
charged an additional $25.00 fee PER HOUR
MISSED.
DURING INTERSESSION ONLY -
Free Breakfast and Lunch will be available. Those
students wishing to eat breakfast would need to be at the
school by 7:30 a.m.
Checks should
be made payable to the student’s school, unless the student is from an outside
county (Polk, Bartow, etc. – they should be made payable
to Floyd County Board of Education or FCBOE.
PLEASE NOTE:
Any student that is required to attend
intersession for
academics cannot attend Driver Education
during intersession.
Any student who takes Driver Education during Winter
Intersession and is required to attend Spring Intersession
for academics will take their Range/Road portion of Driver
Education during the summer months.
