  • The student who wants to participate in the Self Paced Interactive Curriculum Education (SPICE) program contacts the counselor in the district high school where he/she lives to determine the first course to take, and to obtain the principal's written permission to attend the SPICE program.
  • A fee of $150 per unit is paid by the students participating in the program, unless the student qualifies for QBE state funding. A student who is under twenty-one and is not enrolled in any high school is allowed to enroll without paying. Students who fail a course and want to take the course again through the SPICE program while enrolled in a regular education program must pay for the services at SPICE.
  • Students from other school systems are required to bring a withdrawal form, a transcript to register and a note from the school system requesting that the student be allowed to participate in the program.
  • Students with unsettled discipline cases at their home school or the Transitional Academy need to settle those discipline cases before attempting to enroll in SPICE.
  • Students enter with the understanding that they are allowed to study one course at a time. When the first course is completed, the SPICE administrator notifies the student's high school and credit is given. Then the student consults the counselor to begin another course if necessary.
