The new school calendar that offers breaks in the fall, winter, and spring has provided an opportunity for additional learning time for students who need a little extra help. Intersessions have been added at each break to give students additional days to master academic content. This is especially important for students taking high stakes tests such as the Criterion Reference Test or the Georgia High School Graduation Test. Students identified as having difficulty with a particular skill can get additional days of instruction during the school year instead of having to wait until summer break. Thirteen days of additional instruction is available during the school year for remediation and enrichment classes. Transportation, breakfast, lunch and after school care are available in the program to make it easy for students to attend the extra instruction sessions. Best of all, the program is paid for by state and federal funding. |
