9th Annual Armuchee band competition is Saturday

The air in the Armuchee community will be filled with music this Saturday as Armuchee High School hosts the 9th Annual Armuchee Invitational.  High school bands from as far away as North Carolina will travel to Armuchee to show off their talents in the annual marching band competition that grows each year. The event will begin after lunch and run into the evening until awards are presented around 9 p.m. Admission is $7 for those six and older.  Floyd County employee ID badges will not be accepted for admission.

The high school band invitational will feature 19 bands from Georgia, Alabama, and North Carolina! The entire Armuchee High campus will be closed for the day to all traffic. The Invitational is expected to attract 4500 students, directors, and spectators on the Armuchee campus during the day. Coosa, Model, and Pepperell will compete along with bands from throughout the region.  The Armuchee band will perform in exhibition in the evening prior to the start of the awards presentation Awards will be given for third place overall, second place overall and first place grand champion.
With the campus closed to traffic for the day, spectators will park across the highway in the parking lot of The Church at Northside. The spectators will be shuttled from the parking area to the stadium.
The first band will perform at 1:20 p.m. as Franklin High from North Carolina will kick off the competition.  Franklin will be followed by Calhoun High School at 1:40 p.m.

Other local area bands will perform in their classification for the competition with Trion High at 2 p.m., Pepperell High performing at 2:20 p.m., Gordon Central High at 3:30 p.m., Model High at 4 p.m., Adairsville High at 4:20 p.m., Coosa High at 4:40 p.m., and Cartersville High taking the field at 7 p.m.
