Fair art winner
Olivia Escutia, a junior at Pepperell High School, won Best in Show at the annual Coosa Valley Fair Art Exhibit.   Best in Show is the top prize for artwork at the fair competition. Escutia's artwork competed against entries submitted by artists from all area schools - public and private, as well as adult artists in the community.

The winning art piece was a detailed pencil portrait of Audrey Hepburn. Escutia won a blue ribbon and a monetary prize of $135.00 with the Best in Show selection.

Escutia's artistic talent has been very evident in her art classes at Pepperell High. "I have had the unique pleasure of having Olivia in my art class in both middle and high school." said Cristie Smith, art teacher at Pepperell. " She is a wonderful student...dedicated, passionate, and committed to doing her very best on each piece she renders."  Ms. Smith has nominated Escutia for Governor's Honors this year.  Smith added, "I hope Olivia will attend a college in which she can pursue her talents in the visual arts!"
