Tema Hoskins, a teacher at Model High School, has some ideas for classroom projects that are out of this world. Creative ideas are not a problem for the innovative classroom instructor. The big issue is funding the materials and equipment she needs to take her ideas from studying about an issue in a book to an attention grabbing classroom learning project. Hoskins' latest classroom brainstorm "The Science of Space" was recently funded by The website puts donors together with worthy projects to help increase classroom learning opportunities across the country. Public school teachers from every corner of America post classroom project requests on the site. Donors can give any amount to the project that most inspires them.

This class project will be an enrichment extension for Ms. Hoskins' Environmental Science classes this fall. The students will learn new scientific advances in food production and growing strategies, as an extension of their agriculture curriculum. The total cost of the project was over $800. In addition, Ms. Hoskins' students will also complete an investigative study in astronomy, a science discipline not currently offered at Model High School.

The class project was inspired by a gifted camp students attended last school year. "The students loved the enrichment camp so much," Hoskins said. "They asked to learn more in school this upcoming school year."

When a project reaches its funding goal, ships the materials to the school. The donor gets photos of the project taking place, a letter from the teacher, and insight into how every dollar was spent. Each donor to give over $50 also receives hand-written thank-yous from the students. The UPS Foundation was a major contributor to the Model High project.
