Former Coosa High School standout football and basketball student-athlete Blue Cooper has signed with the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League. Cooper was signed as a free agent at the conclusion of the 2010 NFL Draft. Cooper was a 2006 graduate of Coosa High. 

According to a release from the University of Tennessee Chattanooga, Cooper was a four-year letterman for UTC from 2006-09 and the team’s leading receiver over the last two seasons. A second-team All-Southern Conference selection in 2009, Cooper led the Mocs with a career-high 84 catches, 824 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. He was No. 2 in the Southern Conference (SoCon) and No. 6 in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) with 7.6 receptions per game. 

Cooper finished a very productive career at UTC with 152 catches for 1,790 yards and 14 touchdowns. He is fourth in career receptions, eighth in career receiving yards and tied for fifth in all-time receiving touchdowns in the UTC record book. A Dean’s List honoree in the fall at UTC, Cooper is scheduled to graduate on May 2 with a degree in Health and Human Performance.
