We don't have a lot of cowboys in these parts, but we certainly seem to have our share of poets.  Literary students from Floyd County Schools dominated the recent literary recitation contest held by the Booth Western Art Museum.  Nolan Thompson, a junior from Pepperell High School, won first place in the competition and took home the Doc Stovall Award.  Hayden Owen, also a junior at Pepperell High School, placed second in the contest. Savannah Crabbe, a junior at Pepperell, took first place in the narrative poetry contest,  Brianna Dougherty, a senior at Armuchee High School, placed 2nd in Narrative Short Story and Morgan Stansell, a senior at Armuchee, finished 3rd in Narrative Poetry.

Other Armuchee finalists participating were: Julianne Bowling, Bennett Garland, Brett Warner, and Molly Young.  Additional Pepperell finalists included: Jessi Hackett, Masumi Askew, Grafton Flock and Jack Bevis.
