Floyd County Schools will be closed again on Friday due to continued power problems at school facilities and area road conditions. Georgia Power continues to work on power outages at schools but as of 2:00 p.m. this afternoon eight schools were still without power. The timeline given to the school system regarding restoring power to schools did not anticipate restoration until sometime Friday or over the weekend. Some roads in the Pepperell area may also continue to be impassable Friday morning.

Employees are asked to report to work tomorrow, if they can get to their work site. If a school does not have power, employees may work with their principal to arrange to come to the central office and work space can be arranged. School principals may also work with other schools that have power to share work space on Friday.

State School Superintendent Dr. John Barge is working with school systems impacted by yesterday’s storms to determine how to handle the missed days. Floyd County Schools is awaiting instructions from Dr. Barge and the State Board of Education before determining if the days will need to be made-up and options available to local school systems
