State Superintendent Barge to Speak at PHS Baccalaureate

State Superintendent of Schools Dr. John Barge will be the guest speaker at the 2011 Pepperell High School Baccalaureate service. The traditional service honoring the PHS class of 2011 will held in the school auditorium beginning at 6:30 PM on Wednesday, May 25. The PHS class of 2011 will participate in graduation ceremonies on Saturday, May 28 at 10:00 a.m. at The Forum in Rome. 

Dr. Barge is a long-time Floyd County resident who resides in the Kingston area and his daughter attends public schools in the Model district. Dr. Barge earned a bachelor’s degree from Berry College and has three advanced degrees. He earned a master’s degree and a specialist’s degree from West Georgia and his doctoral degree in educational leadership from the University of Georgia. During his education career, Dr. Barge worked as a teacher and administrator in Floyd County Schools, including one year at Pepperell High School. He has been a high school English teacher, assistant principal, and high school principal. Dr. Barge also served as the Director of Career, Technical and Agriculture Education for the Georgia Department of Education.
