Jimmy Hightower, an eighth grade student at Model Middle School, has earned a slot on the All State Band for 2013. Hightower and other students selected from across the state will come together for an all-star performance of some of the best band performers in Georgia high schools and middle schools on March 2, 2013 in Savannah, Georgia. The All State Band will rehearse for two days on February 28 and March 1 preparing for the performance. Hightower was the only Contra Alto Clarinet player to selected to All State Band for middle schools. Students wishing to participate in All State Band must participate in two auditions during the selection process.    
HIghtower has been a highly decorated performer while in the band program at Model.  He participated in Clinic Honor Band his 6th and 7th grade year, Floyd County Honor Band this year and last year, and Jacksonville State University Honor Band in 7th grade.  He has been selected to participate in the JSU program again later this year. HIghtower marched in the Model High School marching band this school year on bass clarinet and finally District and All State this year on Contra Alto Clarinet. He played Clarinet his 6th grade year, bass clarinet his 7th grade year and this year he played the Contra Alto Clarinet.
