The Floyd County Schools Pre-K registration period to apply for the 2012-2013 school year has been scheduled for Monday, February 20, 2012 through Friday, March 2, 2012. This is an opportunity for parents to register their children for the slots available in the Pre-K program in Floyd County Schools for next school year.

Applications for the program will be available at each school in the system offering a Pre-K class beginning on Monday, February 20. Applications will be available during the registration period and should be turned in to the local school. To be eligible for Pre-K , a child must be four-years-old on or before September 1, 2012. Proof of the child’s age will not be needed to complete an application but proof of residency will be required. A recent utility bill in the name of the applicant will be acceptable as proof of residency.

Pre-K slots are not filled on a first come basis so applications received on the first and last day of the application period will have an equal opportunity at the slots available. Names will be randomly drawn from applications received to fill the number of spaces available at each school site. All parents of applicants will be notified by mail concerning the status of their application.

There will be 19 Pre-K classes formed next year in the Floyd County School System. The number of slots available in each Pre-K class will be set by the Georgia Legislature. The number of slots was 22 for each class in the current school year but there has been a proposal to cut the number for next year. Pre-K sites and the number of classes at each site are: Alto Park Elementary (2 classes), Cave Spring Elementary (1 class), Garden Lakes Elementary (2 classes), Glenwood Primary (4 classes), Johnson Elementary (2 classes), McHenry Primary (2 classes), Midway Primary (2 classes), Model Elementary (2 classes), and Pepperell Primary (2 classes).
