Dakota Ball, a senior, and Janier Ferguson, a junior, at Pepperell High School have earned local and state honors for their performance on the gridiron this past season. Both have been named to the First Team GSWA All-State team and Co-Players of the Year by the Rome News Tribune.

Dakota Ball, a defensive lineman for the Dragons, was named to the First Team defensive team on the GSWA All-State team. Ball was also named Defensive Co-Player of the Year by the Rome News Tribune. Ball had a stellar senior season with 85 tackles, seven sacks, 10 tackles for loss, 38 quarterback hurries, and he forced three fumbles. Ball was selected as the starting defensive tackle for the nationally televised Under Armor All-American game played this week in St. Petersburg, Florida. He has committed to play football at the University of Alabama next season.

Janier Ferguson, a running back for PHS, was named to the First Team offensive team on the GSWA All-State team. Ferguson was also named Offensive Co-Player of the Year by the Rome News Tribune. Ferguson began his high school career as a starter for the Dragons as a freshman. He has rushed for over 1000 yards each season and pushed the total over the next threshold by amassing 2,063 yards this past season. Ferguson also scored 26 touchdowns in 2011.
