Students from Armuchee Middle School visited the SOW Family Shelter in Rome today to share the joy of reading and books. Sixth-graders from Armuchee Middle delivered over 700 books to children at the SOW, Inc. facility this morning. The children collected the donated books over the last few weeks at Armuchee Middle School. The kids carried boxes of books into the facility on South Broad St. and stocked the shelves of the SOW family area.

Katie Hulsey, an Armuchee teacher accompanying the students said, “The students visiting SOW today are those selected as Students of the Month at Armuchee Middle.” The book drive for SOW was a community service project of the 6th grade class at Armuchee Middle School. “The whole sixth-grade and really all Armuchee kids brought books to help people learn how to read,” stated Karson Fallin, a sixth-grader at Armuchee Middle. The children sorted and stacked the donated books in the shelves in the family area for residents of the SOW house. They also helped to sort can goods and food in the SOW food pantry.

SOW, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that provides services and support to Rome’s homeless community. SOW stands for Service to Others Worldwide.
