As a system, Floyd County Schools has not cancelled events scheduled for this afternoon.  We have been informed by local Emergency Management personnel that travel problems are not anticipated this afternoon or early evening.  All activities and practices will continue as planned except for some select events or programs altered by the organizers.  We have asked all coaches to end practices by 6:00 p.m. today.

Cancelled events include:

  • The Floyd County Association for Academic Excellence meeting at 6:00 p.m. The event was to include the Middle School Oratorical Contest,  The event will be reschedule for next Thursday January 24th at 6:00 pm at the central office building.
  • After-school tutoring for McKinney-Vento program students will not be held today.
  • The Pepperell Elementary School Spelling Bee planned for Friday morning has been rescheduled for Tuesday, January 22, at 9:00 a.m.
The changes were made by the school or a sponsoring organization.  It is not an indication of a possible cancellation of school tomorrow.  We are in close contact with Emergency personnel in the area and will be monitoring weather conditions throughout the evening and early into Friday.  You can monitor the school system on Facebook and Twitter to get the latest updates on school information.  Visit our homepage to get quick links to Facebook and Twitter.
