Oostanaula School

Oostanaula School was built after a petition from the community had been presented to the Floyd County Board of Education. The County Board approved the construction of the school in 1916. The Oostanaula Community was granted permission to build the schoolhouse on a lot no bigger than 2 acres. The board agreed to pay 1/3 of the total cost to build the school. Once the school was built, it ran independently for 4 years, until it was consolidated with the Hickory Grove, Enon, and Homewood Schools, in which all the students from these four schools, would attend Model School.
