Coosa Middle School

Middle grades were originally part of The Coosa School that was located on Georgia Route 20, about 2 miles west of Rome, and was the first school in Coosa, Georgia. The original building was destroyed by fire and a building was quickly constructed to replace it. This building burned as well. A new building was built at 5041 Alabama Highway and served as the High School for some time until the current Coosa High School facility was built.

Once the high school students were moved to the new building at the high school in 1972, the old building served students in grades 4-8. Grades K-3 attended Krannert Elementary. In 1984, students in grades 4 and 5 were transferred to Alto Park and Garden Lakes, leaving grades 6-8, creating Coosa Middle School. The school received extensive renovations in 1984, when a new cafeteria, band room, home economics classroom and technology lab were built.

A new facility for Coosa Middle School was built and opened in 2002 behind Coosa High School.
