Communication Plan

Goal: Improve Two-way communication between school system and publics we serve

Objective:

Increase the percentage of employees providing two-way feedback to the system this school year as a result of continued implementation of Intentional Listening Strategy for employees.

Strategies for system:

  • Continue Teacher Advisory Meetings four times each year for teachers of the year
  • Attend beginning of the year staff meetings for each school
  • Administer the QLTE survey to assess teacher views on the teaching and learning environment in our schools

Strategies for central office:

  • Hold monthly staff meetings for entire CO staff

Evaluation:

  • Teacher Advisory Meeting end of year group survey
  • Informal observations and discussions with teachers in staff meetings and Teacher Advisory Meetings
  • Results from QLTE survey

Increase the percentage of students providing two-way feedback to the system this school year as a result of continued implementation of Intentional Listening Strategy for students.

Strategies:

  • Develop Student Advisory Group to meeting four times a year at C.O. Group will be comprised of students from each high school
  • Administer third Senior Exit Survey
  • School visits

Evaluation:

  • Formal results of Senior Exit Survey
  • Formal results of Student Advisory exit survey
  • Informal observations and discussions with students in Student Advisory Meetings
  • Informal observations and discussions with students at schools

Objective:

Increase the number of parents providing two-way feedback to the system this school year as a result of continued implementation of Intentional Listening Strategy for parents.

Strategies for system:

  • Continue Superintendent’s Advisory monthly meetings
  • Continue development of “Be There” program
  • Administer formal survey assessment for parents

Evaluation:

  • Informal observations and discussions with parents in Superintendent’s Advisory Meetings
  • Review of results from formal parent survey instrument

Goal: Improve awareness of system accomplishments in the community

Objective:

Increase marketing in the community of positive accomplishments of the system utilizing mass communication.

Strategies:

  • Reinstitute email version of system newsletter that will be emailed to Community Key Communicators
  • Develop a new system brochure
  • Deliver a State of the System address in October
  • Continue to work closely with local media
  • Continue running Board Meetings on local cable access

Evaluation:

  • Formal results of newsletter survey for email recipients
  • Informal observations and discussions with community leaders and parents

Goal: Improve employee and student moral

Objective:

Increase the percentage of employees who feel appreciated for their efforts by providing personal recognition.

Strategies:

  • Send congratulatory letters to employees who receive awards at Board Meetings
  • Send congratulatory letters to students who receive awards at Board Meetings

Evaluation:

  • Formal results of QLTE survey.
  • Informal observations and discussions with employees and students.
