Technology Education Teacher Honored*  May 2006 Reprinted from the Rome News-Tribune
[Rome, GA] Coosa High School teacher Allen Gossett has been honored by the U.S. Air Force for his efforts in technology education. Gossett was recognized as one of 250 outstanding technology teachers nationwide during this school year and will compete for the Air Force’s Technology Education Outstanding Teacher of the Year award. The winner of the award will be featured in the 2006-2007 Technology Education Planning Guide, distributed to more than 30,000 high school educators nationwide. It is Gossett’s third time to be named to the overall list, he said. Recipient teachers are nominated by students. “It’s a great honor, especially that students nominate you for the award,” he said. Gossett teaches about 15 technology classes at Coosa, covering everything from robotics to desktop publishing and radio. The Air Force has supported a shop-safety program by providing safety posters and other materials for more than 20 years. “The Air Force is very proud to support America’s technology education teachers,” said Master Sgt. Joe Hunter, in a written statement. “We’re also extremely pleased to honor these 250 outstanding teachers and to let them know how much their students appreciate them.”
