Coosa High wins again in Floyd County Schools Academic Decathlon

Coosa High School's academic decathlon team has won the Floyd County Schools Academic Decathlon for the fourth year in a row. Model High's team placed second, Armuchee High third, and Pepperell High fourth. Coosa will represent Floyd County Schools next month in the state competition. The Coosa team led by coaches, Bill Daughtry and Randy Vice, also garnered numerous individual honors. Cindy Watkins, Coosa High, had the top score in the Honors division for the second consecutive year. Cindy also swept first place in each individual category in the Honors division by posting the top scores in science, math, economics, language arts, music and art . Connor Moore, also a student at Coosa High, had the top overall score in the Varsity division. Other top individual performers in the Varsity division included: Naomi Mullins, a student at Armuchee High, in science; Clint Green, of Armuchee High, math; Brittany West, Model High, economics; Jennifer Morgan, Model High, language arts; Walt Watkins, Coosa High, music; and Michael Woodall, Pepperell High, art. Janna Hamman's first place finish in the Varsity division gave Coosa a sweep of first place in each of the three divisions in the competition. Janna also took top honors in two individual categories as she placed first in language arts and music. Other category winners in the Varsity division included: Cody Bridges, Armuchee High, science and math; Lindsey Rudner, Pepperell High, economics; Adam Tucker, Coosa High, art. The first place team members from Coosa High included: Cindy Watkins, Eric Angel, Jeremy Deaton, Connor Moore, June Noble, Walt Watkins, Will Reeves, Adam Tucker, Janna Hamman, Krystin Allair, Jesse Cagle, and Haley Wright.
