The Coosa Eagles had already clinched a playoff berth with their win on Friday over Model, but that still didn’t stop them from celebrating with a dogpile after defeating Armuchee , 7-4, on Tuesday.

The Eagles will be the four-seed out of Region 7-AA and will likely play Lovett, the top seed from 6-AA, in the first round.

“We’re very excited about it,” said Coosa coach Mike Shank of his team going to the playoffs. “This will be good experience for such a young team.”

Dylan Simmons got the win for the Eagles (15-11, 14-8) by pitching a complete game. He struck out seven.

Mason Hamilton had two hits, including a double and two RBIs to lead the offense. Blaine Swift also had two hits and an RBI, and Mitchell Williams added two hits and a double.

David Masters and Seth Keith each had a hit apiece.

Coosa will open the playoffs on the road on May 7.

The Coosa Eagles are now one win away from being playoff bound after a 9-6 win over Model on Friday.

If Coosa defeats Armuchee on Tuesday, they will be headed to the state playoffs as the four-seed from Region 7-AA. The Eagles (14-11, 13-8) sit one game ahead of both Rockmart and Pepperell.

Dylan Simmons had a big day for the Eagles going 3-for-3 at the plate with a home run, a double and four RBIs. He also picked up the save on the mound.

Zac Hale was the winner after striking out five in his time pitching. He also had two hits.

Mason Hamilton was 3-for-4 with a double, Nick LeClear had a hit and two RBIs and Brooke Bingham added a hit and an RBI.

Now Coosa will go for that playoff-clinching win on Tuesday at Armuchee.
