Amy Young, art teacher at Glenwood Primary School, has been selected to receive the annual Leadership Award presented by Artsonia.  The award is given to teachers in only ten schools in each state across the country each year and honors educators who go beyond the classroom walls to encourage family and community involvement in arts education.  Artsonia is the world’s largest online kid’s art museum and Glenwood’s online gallery ranked #2 in the state of Georgia for the 2010-2011 school year.

In the 2010-2011 school year, Glenwood’s online gallery showcased 6652 pieces of student artwork. The popular student art collection has been visited more than 51,490 times and has received 284 comments from friends and family members. Artsonia awards their rankings based on the number of artwork published in the gallery, as well as teacher’s ability to cultivate a community of fan club members who actively support the students and their creativity.  The award also recognizes significant achievement in the area of technology integration within the school arts program. State rankings are based on specific criteria, which demonstrate both aspects of the Leadership Award.
