Eric Haney, a 1970 graduate of Pepperell High School, will be the guest speaker at the 2010 Baccalaureate Service at Pepperell High on Wednesday May 26 at 6:30 p.m. in the school’s auditorium.  Command Sergeant Major Haney is a retired member of the United States Army counterterrorist unit, the 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta, more commonly known as Delta Force. During his twenty-year military career, he served exclusively in a front-line combat unit and was a founding operator of Delta Force.

Post-military, Mr. Haney has worked throughout the Middle East and Latin America, protecting princes, presidents, and CEOs.  After the September 2001 terrorists’ attacks on New York, Mr. Haney became a television commentator on military affairs and terrorism, appearing regularly on CNN, Fox News, CBS News, Larry King Live, and The O’Reilly Factor.

In 2002, Haney wrote ' Inside Delta Force', a memoire of his time in the elite military unit.  Beginning in 2006, he was co-executive producer of the CBS television series The Unit, a series that was inspired by Haney’s special operations experiences.

Eric Haney appears in the recently released blockbuster movie, IronMan 2.  Haney lives and works in Los Angeles, but also maintains a home in Cave Spring.
