Amy Young, art teacher at Glenwood Primary School, has been recognized by Artsonia - the world’s largest online kid’s art museum – as having a state top 5 online art gallery of student art work.  Artsonia (artsonia.com) has ranked the Glenwood Primary site as the #5 site in Georgia and presented Amy Young with a Leadership Award.

The Leadership Award honors teachers who go beyond the classroom walls to encourage family and community involvement in arts education.  The award also recognized significant achievement in the area of technology integration within the school arts program.  State rankings by Artsonia are based on specific criteria, which demonstrate both aspects of the Leadership Award.

According to news release by Artsonia, while teachers in more than 100 countries showcase their student artwork on Artsonia, Amy Young has created a school community deserving of recognition.  During the 2008-2009 school year, the Glenwood Primary School gallery showcased 2468 pieces of artwork.  This popular collection of art has been visited more than 17589 times and has received 361 comments from friends and family.  “Artsonia is a simple yet effective way to get parents and family members more involved in Art Education,” said Amy Young. “My students love it!”

In addition to viewing student artwork, family members can also purchase keepsakes imprinted with a child’s artwork through the Artsonia website.  Artsonia donates 15 percent of their annual revenue back to the school art programs.  This year, Glenwood’s art program raised $159.35 through the program.

Artsonia is an online kid’s art museum providing free, educational resources for kids, families and schools.
