Ellie Fox, a junior at Armuchee High School, has won the Congressional Art Award for the district with one of her art drawings.  With the award she will receive a  $10,000 scholarship to the Art Institute and a $5,000 scholarship to Savannah College of Art and Design.  Congressman Phil Gingrey will also fly Ellie and her family to Washington, DC to see her artwork hanging in the Congressional halls this summer.

The artwork was also submitted in  competition for Pegasus, a literary magazine.  Ellie won 1st place in the competition and her piece will be featured on the cover of Pegasus magazine.  The artwork is a self portrait.

Also, three other AHS students have won Art awards in the Kiwanis Art Show:  Katlyn Storey won “Best in Show” and a $500 scholarship; Caitlyn Finley took 1st place; and Audrey Young won 2nd place. Both Katlyn and Caitlyn will compete on the state level.

Michaele Flynn is the art teacher at Armuchee High School.
