The Armuchee High School Academic team completed the
recent Northwest Georgia Regional RESA Quiz Bowl competition
undefeated taking the JV title. The team competed at the
JV level (all of the school’s scholars are freshmen or
sophomores) winning first place with a record of 4 wins
and no losses in the round robin style tournament. The young
team performed well, winning most of their games by large
margins. The tournament included South Paulding , a 5-A
school; Cartersville. Region 3A; Cedartown, Region 3A; and
Calhoun, Region 2A. Armuchee now advances to
the state competition to be held January 24th at South Forsyth
High School. With their success in the regional competition,
the Armuchee team will be seeded first from the region.
Members of the Armuchee team include sophomores Ben McBurnett,
Hope Bettler, Austin Brown, Afzal Fazal, and freshmen Austin
Bryant, Gina Yu and Tabitha Burdick. The team was coached
by Don Bettler, teacher at Armuchee High.
