Students and teachers in Floyd County
Schools have once again opened their hearts and their cupboards
to help those in need. During the annual event held sponsored
by 11Alive news in Atlanta, 14 of our schools collected and
donated over 180,000 cans to the annual Can-a-thon held by
the Salvation Army. The school totals helped to make
the Rome effort one of the largest collection locations in
the nation.
Model Middle School once again led all
schools and organizations with 64,895 cans. Model Middle
eclipsed their record setting total of over 63,000 collected
last year. Pepperell Middle School students also showed
their giving spirit by collecting 47,100 to be the second largest
donator of cans this year. Floyd County Schools had the
top five donations collected during the event. Pepperell
Elementary donated 27,782; Model Elementary, 15,262; and Armuchee
Middle, 10,140.
