Area competition cheerleading squads placed in the state
Cheer Championships held recently in Columbus. Coosa
High finished as a runner-up in the region competition and
used that to springboard into the top slot in the state competition
held last week. Coosa
High won the AA state title in the competition while the Armuchee
High squad finished third.
The State Cheer Competition
will be featured on a special
1-hour Prep Sports Plus program
on Georgia Public Broadcasting. The
program, featuring the winning performance by the Coosa High
cheer squad, will air on Thursday, November 13 at 7:00 pm; Saturday,
November 15 at 11:00 am and Sunday, November 16 at 12:00 pm.
The Coosa squad finished in 3rd place in last year’s competition
and used that experience to propel the team to the State Championship
this season. The Coosa Competition Cheerleaders were coached
this year by Beth Faine in her first year leading the squad. Ashley
Goddard is the coach of the Armuchee High Competition Cheerleading
squad.
The Coosa state champion squad includes: Hannah
LaRue, Taylor Burkhalter, Tori Langley, Murphi Swann, Chelsy
Tenny, Ali Brewer, Tori Cochran, Emily Tumlin, Maggie Brewer,
Raven Davis, Harleigh Turner, Devyn Haas, Jana Hubbard, Rebecca
LaRue, Christy Chastain, Morgan Smith, Destiny Huggins, Anna
McBride and Kaitlyn Baker.
