Two Floyd County high school bands earned honors at the Golden River Marching Band Competition held on Saturday, October 18 at Haralson County High School.  The Armuchee High and Coosa High bands received group and individual honors at the competition. 

The Coosa Eagle band was crowned Grand Champion in the Silver Division of the marching band competition.  The Silver Division consisted of 14 bands in Class A and AA.  Coosa Band members and sections also placed in the Championship Division of the competition.  The Coosa Band was crowned Grand Champion in the Silver Division which consisted of 14 bands in Class A and AA. Also in the Championship Division, the Color Guard placed 2nd and Drum Major Rebekah Young placed 3rd.  In Class AA, the Color Guard placed 2nd, Drum Major placed 2nd, and the Band placed 1st.  Superior Ratings were also awarded to the Percussion Section, the Color Guard, The Drum Major, and for the Band’s overall performance.  The Coosa High band is under the leadership of band directors Randy Young and Jeff Therber.

The Armuchee Indian band earned 2nd place in the AA Division and in the Gold Division including bands from both Class A and AA.  The Marching Indians also earned 1st place in percussion.  The Armuchee High band earned a Superior rating for the competition.  The Armuchee High band is under the leadership of band director Thomas Moore.
