The Floyd County Board of Education has named three finalists
in the search for a new superintendent for Floyd County Schools. Board
members selected the three finalists from 22 applications for
the position. The opening was created when former superintendent
Kelly Henson accepted the position of executive director of
the Professional Standards Commission in Atlanta.
The
three finalists are:
Dale
Gaddis,area
2 assistant superintendent for Cobb County Schools for the
past six years. Gaddis’ region includes two high schools,
three middle schools, one special school and 13 elementary
schools. His duties in Cobb County include the primary
operational, managerial, administrative, leadership development
and oversight responsibility for schools in area 2 in Cobb
County. Cobb County Schools has more than 107,000 students
and 113 schools.

Dr. Lynn Plunkett, interim superintendent for Floyd
County Schools. She has served in that capacity since Kelly Henson’s
retirement in November. Plunkett served as deputy superintendent
in charge of teaching and learning prior to being named interim
superintendent. She has also served as assistant superintendent
of curriculum and instruction in the system. Floyd County Schools
has more than 10,600 students with 21 schools.

Dr.
Judy Scherer,a
deputy superintendent in Douglas County. She's in charge of
the system's General Administration Department, which is responsible
for student affairs and the security and retention of all school
records. Scherer also works with the safety and security of
schools, coordination of student athletic and extra curricular
programs, student discipline, student registration and transfers. Douglas
County Schools has an enrollment of 24,000 students and 30
schools.
