Coosa High held off a strong charge from Pepperell High
to win the school’s sixth consecutive Floyd County Schools
Academic Decathlon. The Coosa High team continued the winning
tradition in the local academic competition that started with
the team representing CHS in 2003. Coosa High will
now represent Floyd County Schools in the state competition
in February. The Coosa High team was led by coaches Bill
Daughtry and Randy Vice in the competition held on Friday,
January 11, 2008. Pepperell High finished second just 40 points
behind the Coosa team, Model High was third, and Armuchee High
finished fourth.
Luke Weeks, Coosa High, was the top individual performer in
the Academic Decathlon. He tied for the top honor in last year’s
Academic Decathlon. Weeks was also the top individual
scorer in three individual categories in the competition.
