Marcus Holloway, a senior at Pepperell High School, has accepted an appointment to the U.S. Military Academy. Marcus is the son of Tim and Lynn Holloway of Silver Creek. U.S. Congressman Phil Gingrey nominated Marcus to the academy.
Marcus ranks in the top 5 percent of his senior class, and is enrolled in the Honors College/Advanced Placement Preparatory Program. He is a member of the National Honor Society, National Honor Roll, and National Society of High School Scholars. Marcus plays varsity baseball and was named Mr. Pepperell High School for 2006. In a release from Congressman Gingrey's office, it was noted that he has the honor of nominating young men and women to our nation's Military Service Academies. The release lists leadership and academic qualities, including extracurricular and athletic activities as qualifications considered by Congressman Gingrey when selecting a nominee.
"I am so proud of our young men and women who dedicate themselves to the service of our nation," said Gingrey. "Marcus has shown an impressive commitment to academic excellence, hard work and community service. I know these qualities will serve him well at the Military Academy. It is because of young citizens like Marcus that America has the finest military in the world. Our nation is fortunate to have his service." |
