Registration forms are now available for parents to sign-up children in a Floyd County Schools Kindergarten program for the 2007-2008 school year.  The forms are available at the Floyd County Board of Education Office on Riverside Parkway and at each elementary and primary school in Floyd County Schools with a Kindergarten class.  A child must be five years-old on or before September 1, 2007 to enroll.

If your child is participating in a Georgia Lottery funded Pre-K program, forms have been sent to all Pre-K programs and made available to parents through those programs. Students in the Pre-K program have or will be screened for Kindergarten while participating in the school or private daycare Pre-K program and will not be required to attend an additional screening.

There will be an opportunity for those not participating in a Pre-K program to have a child screened for Kindergarten on Thursday, May 3, 2007 from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  The screenings will be available at the school your child will attend in the fall.  No appointment is necessary.  The screening instrument asks basic questions such as alphabet and number recognition.

The Kindergarten pre-registration helps the school know how many students to expect in the fall. It also gives parents an opportunity to ask questions concerning what the parents will need to do before a child begins school. For parents of a child who will be attending kindergarten in a Floyd County School this fall and not currently enrolled in a Pre-K program, it is very important to make arrangements to attend the Kindergarten screening.

Important Reminders:

  • A parent needs to accompany the child to the screening.
  • The parent and child must attend the screening in their school district.
  • You will need to provide the official birth certificate for the child
  • The child's social security card or number (optional with a completed waiver)
  • Proof of residency (utility bills, etc.).
  • Parents should bring immunization and eye/ear/dental screening certificates, but these are not mandatory the day of the pre-registration and screening. (These must be completed by the first day of school in the fall.)
