Allie Hensley and Sarah CorbittAllie Hensley and Sarah Corbitt, seventh-grade students at Model Middle School , have been recognized for their writing ability by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.  The two Model Middle students were named two of only four state finalists in the newspaper's Titanic essay contest.  Hensley and Corbitt's essays were chosen from over 500 entries state-wide in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's News for Kids creative writing contest.  Allie and Sarah are in Mrs. Angela Yancey's 7th grade Kaleidoscope English Language Arts class at Model Middle School .

The AJC's Titanic Essay Contest was open to students in grades five thru nine.  The essay was to be 200 words or less with the task of describing a day in the life of a person of the student's age onboard the Titanic. The student's essay was to tell about the character's class of service, where he or she was traveling from and to, how time was spent aboard ship, impressions of the ship, and interesting people met on the journey. The students were charged with being creative but historically accurate in their work.

As a reward for being named finalist in the essay contest, Allie and Sarah were awarded four free tickets to view the Titanic Exhibit at the Atlanta Civic Center .
