Hope Bettler, the 2007 Floyd County Schools spelling champion, finished second in the area district spelling bee.  Hope received a trophy and a $50.00 prize as the runner-up in the spelling competition.  Hope will attend the state spelling bee as an alternate.  The state competition will be held on Friday, March 23, 2007 at Georgia State University in Atlanta.

Hope Bettler, an eight-grade student at Armuchee Middle School , is a two time winner of the Floyd County school system's spelling bee.  She continued a string of three consecutive years that an Armuchee Middle student has won the system spelling competition.  Hope started the string of wins for Armuchee by winning the Floyd County Schools Spelling Bee in 2005 when she was in the sixth-grade at Armuchee Middle.

John Knight, runner-up in the Floyd County spell-off and a student at Model Middle School, also attended the district competition.
