The Floyd County Schools Pre-K Round-Up is underway and will run through February 16th. The Round-up is an opportunity for parents to register their children for the slots available in the Pre-K program. Applications for the program are available at the Pre-K school sites. Pre-K is available to children in Floyd County who will be four-years old on or before September 1, 2007.
There will be 17 Pre-K classes formed next school year in the Floyd County School System. That is an increase of three classes from the beginning of last school year. The system was approved to add three Pre-K classes this year with one new class added at three schools. The schools adding Pre-K classes were: Glenwood Primary, Midway Primary and Model Elementary. There are 20 available Pre-K slots in each class.
Pre-K sites and the number of classes at each site are: Alto Park Elementary (1 class), Cave Spring Elementary (2 classes), Garden Lakes Elementary (1 class), Glenwood Primary (3 classes), Johnson Elementary (2 classes), McHenry Primary (2 classes), Midway Primary (2 classes), Model Elementary (2 classes), and Pepperell Primary (2 classes).
Slots are not filled in the order applications are received so applications received on the first and last day of the application period will have an equal opportunity at the slots available. Names will be randomly drawn from received applications to fill the number of spaces available at each school site. All parents of applicants will be notified by mail about their child's status. The notification letters will be mailed by Monday, February 26, 2007. |
