Coosa High School 's Academic Decathlon team has won the Floyd County Schools Academic Decathlon for the fifth year in a row. The Coosa High team continued the winning tradition in the academic competition that started with the team representing CHS in 2003. Coosa High will now represent Floyd County Schools in the state competition in February. The Coosa High team was led by coaches Bill Daughtry and Randy Vice in the competition held on Friday, January 12, 2007. Model High's team placed second, Pepperell High third, and Armuchee High fourth in the academic competition.
Hayden Self, Model High, and Luke Weeks, Coosa High, were the top individual performers in the academic competition. Self was the top individual scorer on written tests in social sciences, economics and Super Quiz. Weeks took top honors in language/literature and music. Bobby Venable, Armuchee High, and Lauren Denmon, Model High, tied for the top score in art.
