What is CRCT?

The CRCT are tests administered to Georgia students to evaluate the acquisition of skills and knowledge described in the Georgia Performance Standards (GPS). In grades three through eight, tests are also given in reading, math, language arts, science and social studies. Since 2003, Reading and math test scores have been used in considering the promotion of students in grades three, five and eight. CRCT scores produce information on students, classrooms, schools, systems and state achievement in education.  Results are reported in relation to the state standard as Below, Meets or Exceeds the standard.

Explanation of Below, Meets, and Exceeds

GPS standards are scored based on performance levels that range from 650 to 950 for each grade level and content area.

  • Below - Indicates the score of 800 or below and did not meet standards for a minimum level of proficiency.
  • Meets - Indicates the score of 800 to 849 and did meet the standards level of proficiency.
  • Exceeds - Indicates the score of 850 or above and exceeded the standards level of proficiency.
